The establishment of the Romanian Society of Medical Informatics was proposed by a group of initiative and approved by the 3rd Medical Informatics Symposium “MEDINF'” in Sibiu in September 1990, where it was decided that the registration and headquarters of the society should be in this city.
This code of ethics of Romanian Society of Medical Informatics is based on the desire to protect and respect the integrity, confidentiality, privacy, and autonomy of individuals, while also promoting scientific excellence and regional, national, and international collaboration. Ethical obligations form the basis of the professional’s responsibility, regardless of the workplace or the method of collecting, storing, and securing health-related information. Additionally, sensitive information (e.g., genetic information, adoptions, substance use, sexual health, etc.) requires special attention to prevent its misuse.
The Internal Regulation Document complement the Statute of the Romanian Society of Medical Informatics (SRIM) and establish the internal organization and functioning of the society.
